End Grain (or End-Grain) cutting boards are different from edge-grain and face-grain boards in that they do not show signs of wear and tear (knife marks from slicing cuts or chopping). They can last, and look as good as new, for up to 30 plus years! Additionally, end grain cutting boards are easier on your knives, allowing them to stay sharper longer. different types of wood and shapes.. They are made in multiple stages with many different glue-ups (this one required 4 separate glue ups). Lengths of wood are arranged in asymmetrical patterns during these preliminary steps and glued together. Then before the final glue up, the boards are cross cut with each strip flipped to their end-grain and every other strip is rotated 180 degrees. That’s how you get patterns with different types of wood and shapes.
