Edge of Chaos End Grain Cutting Board

$225.00

12″x10″x1.25″ floating end-grain cutting board made with a mix of exotic and domestic hardwoods.

Woods Used: Katalox, Teak, Koa, Purple Heart, Padauk, Blood Wood, Black Walnut, Hard White Maple, Red Oak, & Cherry

Finished with a 1/2″ roundover top edge and a 45deg chamfer bottom edge with lightly rounded corners. Combined with the heavy duty rubber feet, the effect is as though this cutting board hovers just above your countertop when viewed from the top and slightly to any side.

End Grain cutting boards are different from edge-grain and face-grain boards in that they do not show signs of wear and tear (knife marks from slicing cuts or chopping). They are made in multiple stages with many different glue-ups (this one required 4 separate glue ups). Lengths of wood are arranged in asymmetrical patterns during these preliminary steps and glued together. Then before the final glue up, the boards are cross cut with each strip flipped to their end-grain and rotated 180 degrees. That’s how you get patterns with different types of wood and shapes.
